The Only 5 Formats You Need To Make $1M/Month On YouTube ($130M Tracked Revenue)
You know your most viewed video off the top of your head.
But you can't name the one with the highest earnings.
To be honest, no one can. And that's what we figured out to do.
Across the 44,091 videos we tracked, the video with the most views and the highest earning one are almost never the same.
Now before I get more into it, let me tell you how I know this.
I'm the founder of Trakyo. We track over 300 channels all the way from the first click to the moment the payment is made. We know exactly where every user comes from, and we've tracked over $130 million in attributed revenue so far.
So nothing here is estimated. Nothing here is a guess. Every number you're about to see is tracked directly from the Trakyo database.
Now let's circle back to that number: 44,091 videos. Out of all of them, only 2,187 have made at least a single dollar. That's 4.9%. The other 95% collected views, comments, and subscribers, but no money.
And when we took every video that did make money, we found a pattern. All of them fell into five repeated formats, consistently. With an RPV (what we call revenue per view) running near $1.00. At that rate, 10,000 views is a $10,000 video.
You want to know what the formats are. Here's the leaderboard.
The leaderboard
- Mechanism + Income Proof
- Free Training / Full Course
- Roadmap ($0 to X)
- Third-Person Case Study
- Origin Story
Format 1: Mechanism + Income Proof
The format with the highest revenue per view, and nothing even comes close.
In this format, you name a specific, ownable thing you teach, whether it's a strategy, a system, or a model, and you attach a real income figure to it in the title.
Every video made in this format that crossed 5,000 views averaged $33,087 in revenue. And it incredibly reduces the sales cycle: an average of 7 days from first click to payment.
Surprisingly, 40% of the money videos in this format sit under 10K views, which realistically is very easy to achieve.
Steal the title
- My [method] is BORING, but it makes me $[X]/month
- This ONE [tool/setup/asset] makes me $[X]/month
Why "boring" works: it switches off the scam alarm. Hype triggers doubt. Boring plus an oddly specific number ($45,833, not $45K) reads like a screenshot, not a promise.
Format 2: Free Training / Full Course
The opt-in machine.
A full course, posted completely free, with a minimum length of 60 minutes. It can even go up to 10 hours.
Giving away what everyone else charges for collapses distrust instantly, and the runtime itself is the proof. Nobody fakes a ten hour course.
38% of clicks became opt-ins, the highest rate of all five formats. The only weakness: it's top of funnel, so there will be unqualified leads in the mix. But if your funnel is strong enough, you'll easily disqualify whoever isn't a fit.

- Beginners Guide To [X] in 2026 (10+ HOURS FREE COURSE)
- FREE [skill] training from a [$X credential] (FULL BLUEPRINT)
Format 3: Roadmap ($0 to X)
The densest money per viewer in the database.
The reason: you're showing the story of how you went from the very beginning to a dream outcome. A person who watches a video like that is one of the highest intent viewers there is.
Every video tracked in this format has generated an average of $18,703 per video, with an RPV of $0.97. A 10K view video basically guarantees you five figures.
It's also one of the most responsible videos in the lead journey. We can see it in real time: this format is a heavy nurturing machine.

- If I [X Objective] in 2026, I'd Do This
Format 4: Third-Person Case Study
The closer video. Bottom of funnel, and double the payment rate of anything else.
You sit down with a student or client's transformation, with their constraint front and center. You attack pain points like working full time, or being in college. That constraint is what lets the viewer see themselves in the result you show in the packaging.
Inside Trakyo, the funnel data proves it: most buyers watch this video as the last video before they pay.
And nothing beats it at closing. It's literally the most conversion-dense format in the entire database. On a few hundred views, you can get 100x the results.
Steal the title
- How [Name] went from $0 to $[X] [doing thing] (Case Study)
- $[X] in [timeframe] While [working full time / in college / starting at (age)]
Format 5: Origin Story
The homepage video.
This is the video you pin to your YouTube homepage. It's the highest piece of video for letting people discover you, then nurture for weeks before they purchase. It works because it targets the mechanism you're offering by showing your identity and the journey you have with it.
These videos generate an average of $11,737 per video. And that doesn't even count the impact they have in getting people to discover you in the first place.

- [Person] made me a [income identity]
- How [thing] made me a [income identity] at [age] (My Story)
Now the uncomfortable part
One honest caveat first: none of this fixes a bad offer. The format is the vehicle, not the engine.
You just read other people's revenue dashboards. Every stat here exists because over 300 creators connected their channel and funnel to Trakyo. You read theirs. You still can't read yours. Which means you still can't answer the question this opened with.
Connect your channel to Trakyo and the same columns exist for every video you've ever posted. Your real top earner, your RPV, and which of these five formats is quietly your best one.
You can even view your entire client journey, from when they first found out about you to the videos, clicks, and interactions that happen over time until they eventually convert. You can even plug it into Claude as an MCP and just ask.
It's probably not the video you think.
Track every click, lead, booked call, and closed deal — traced back to the exact video, link, and platform that started it.
